The 2009 Silver Koala is the third coin in a new series of iconic Perth Mint releases depicting Australia’s most endearing marsupial. Scheduled for release each year with a new design featuring a cuddly koala, this stunning series is designed to appeal to collectors and gift buyers. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, it features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
The 2009 coin’s reverse design depicts an adorable koala sitting on a tree branch on a beautiful “shimmer” background.
